Promoting education is one of the missions of the DAR!
One way we promote education is through scholarships to help students achieve a college degree with the following Colorado State Society sponsored scholarships.

Adult Advanced Education Scholarship
For summary information on the Adult Advanced Education Scholarship click here.
- Awarded to any college student whose college education was interrupted for at least one year.
- Applicant must have returned to a college or university in the past year.
- Minimum award is $1,500.
Elementary/Secondary Teacher Education Scholarship
For summary information on the Secondary Teacher Education Scholarship click here.
- Awarded to a high school senior or an undergraduate or post graduate student who is majoring in an Elementary or Secondary School Teacher Education Program.
- Applicant must provide a college transcript or letter of acceptance from the college or university stating the applicant has been accepted into the Teacher Education program.
- Minimum award is $1,500.
Honoring Military Families Scholarship (NEW!)

- Awarded to a high school senior or undergraduate student who has been accepted to or attending a college or university and is the child of a parent who served or is serving in the United States Armed Forces.
- Applicant must provide documentation proving parentage, such as a birth certificate or adoption papers, and documentation proving their parent’s service.
- Minimum award is $1,500.
State Regents’ American History Scholarship

- State Regent’s Scholarship In memory and in honor of all Honorary State Regents who supported this scholarship.
- Awarded to an undergraduate or post graduate college student.
- Applicant shall have a concentrated study in History, Political Science, American History or Government, Historic Preservation or Archives Management with a focus on American History. A transcript stating that the applicant is majoring in one of the above fields must be included with the application.
- Minimum award is $1,500.
Virginia Leyda Roberts Nursing Scholarship

- Awarded to a high school senior or undergraduate student who has been accepted or is currently enrolled in a nursing school for an Associate’s or Bachelor’s nursing degree.
- Applicant must provide a college transcript or letter of acceptance from the college or university stating the applicant has been accepted into the Nursing Program.
- Minimum award is $1,500.
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution also supports other scholarships. The scholarships vary in amount and number. As funds are available, scholarships are granted in the fields of nursing, optometry, speech pathology, occupational therapy, historic preservation, etc.. Application packets are available from the Scholarships page of the NSDAR website.
Additional Info
Eligibility
- Applicants must be a U.S. citizen and a resident of the State of Colorado and attend an accredited college or university in the United States.
- Applicants do not need to be members of the DAR.
- Please do not submit a personal photograph as the scholarship is judged and awarded without regard to gender, race, color, religion, national origin, or disability.
- All awards are judged based on academic excellence, commitment to field of study (as required), and financial need by a committee of judges outside the NSDAR.
- Upon receipt of proof of registration, the scholarship award will be paid directly to the recipient’s college or university no later than June 30thand will be applied to the upcoming academic year.
- No person shall receive the same scholarship award more than once.
Only application packets with an email date stamp or postmark mail stamp of January 31, 2025 or before will be accepted.
