Service to Veterans

Members wrap Christmas and Hannukah gifts to deliver to veterans in the hospital to make sure these brave men and women know their service is appreciated. Others visit veterans throughout the year.

On Memorial Day, DAR members place flags on the graves of veterans at Ft. Logan National Cemetery and other locations in the state to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Active Duty Military “Project Patriot”

DAR members support warriors currently serving our country in many ways. Continuing a long-standing tradition, many chapters send care packages of food, books and fleece liners for sleeping bags to active duty military overseas.

Pocket Flags

One new and popular service among chapters is Pocket Flags. The miniature American flags are properly folded and placed into a small, clear bag with a card saying “A flag for your pocket so you can always carry a little piece of home. We are praying for you and we are proud of you. Thank you for defending our country and our freedom. © Presented by Pocket Flag Project” The cards are signed Daughters of the American Revolution and their chapter name. Volunteers are encouraged to put a brief personal message and their email address.

Heartfelt Thanks

I noticed a basket full of 100 small folded flags. I’d like to thank you twice, once for the flag and inspiring message and again for taking the time to hand write each message. That is no easy task and it did not go unnoticed. Thank you for your prayers and thank you for your patriotism. We Marines are blessed to have support from home as great as yours.

I wanted to let you I have seen firsthand the embodiment of sacrifice and service in Marines. More importantly I wanted to let you know I have also seen the fruits of your labors as a mental health provider. Your Pocket Flag Project has brought much inspiration and sense of connection to those that take your flags with them. All too often out in the middle of nowhere, with none but a few Marine brothers for validation, it is at times difficult to remember what motivates. Your flags remind those who serve why they serve.
