Scholarship Information

Individuals who wish to apply for these scholarships must obtain a letter of sponsorship from a Colorado DAR chapter. Do not submit a personal photograph as the application is considered without regard to race, religion, sex, or national origin. The applications should be made through the Colorado State Scholarship Chairman.  Scholarships are paid directly to the school of the student’s choice upon registration. 

Applicants must be United States citizens and must attend an accredited college or university. All awards are judged based on academic excellence, commitment to field of study (as required), and need. All application packets are due to the State Chairman by January 15 with awards made at the annual State Conference. The scholarships are as follows:

Honorary State Regents’ American History Scholarship

In memory and honor of all honorary state regents who supported this scholarship.

Winner must be a Colorado high school senior who is in the upper 1/5 of their graduating class or home schooled student.

Applicant must have a concentrated study of a minimum of 24 credit hours while in a United States college or university in American History and American Government.

An impartial committee outside DAR judges the applications.

The maximum award is $2,500.00 per year.

Adult Advanced Education Scholarship

To further the education, in any area, to any adult, man or woman qualifying whose education was interrupted for at least one year.

The award is made through the decision of the scholarship granting committee.

Must attend an accredited college or university in the United States.

The maximum award $1,000.00.

Virginia Leyda Roberts Nursing Scholarship

Awarded to a graduating high school senior pursuing an education in nursing at an accredited college offering a BSN Degree.

An impartial committee outside DAR judges the applications.

Must attend an accredited college or university in the United States.

The award is $1,000.

The National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) support other scholarships.  The scholarships vary in amount and number.  As income is available, scholarships are granted in the fields of nursing, optometry, speech pathology, occupational therapy, historic preservation, etc.  Application packets are available from NSDAR
