This site is designed for members of the Colorado State Society DAR. If you are not a member, please exit the website now. November 2009 Dear Colorado Daughters, Your regent received a great deal of information while attending the National Board of Management in Washington D.C. Some of this I covered in the new electronic Colorado State Newsletter but I would like to tell you about others in this letter. There is going to be a task force on “Social Media”. A group of ladies from around the country will plan guidelines for the DAR and the DAR ladies who use the Internet. Included in Social Media is Facebook, You Tube, LinkedIn, Yahoo groups, etc. The National Society is concerned about exposure of personal information about the members being on the Web and feels that guidelines will help us all in our use of the Internet. Our Honorary State Regent, Linda Sandlin is serving on this task force. The National Society is looking for “Real Daughters” The goal is to locate the burial sites of all our DAR Real Daughters, determine if their graves have been marked by DAR, and acquire tombstone photos of as many as possible. Currently there are pictures of 600 of the Real Daughter grave sites. Some special Real Daughters lie in unmarked graves and it is hoped that members will continue in their efforts to mark these graves. There will be a book published once the collection is as complete as possible. The goal is to print the book in 2010. Many chapters are having special events for our veterans this month. Remember to fly your flag on November 11th and participate in memorial services as you can. This activity of the Daughters is a choice opportunity for publicity, so please consider sending an article and picture of your special event to your local media. I hope all chapter regents and committee chairmen had the opportunity to “play” with the Master Questionnaire on the Web site. This new method of filling in the forms should be time-saving and helpful to all regents. Congratulations are in order for our new CAR prospective member, Abigail Regina Fallace. I especially would like to thank Regina for keeping the Web site current while handling all of her other responsibilities. Have a wonderful fall season, continue in all of your wonderful endeavors on behalf of our fine organization and SHOUT OUT for the DAR!
